Nokia-3310

Back in January, HMD Global officially launched the Nokia 6 in China, the first of its devices using the licensed Nokia name.

The Nokia 6 hasn’t made its way to other international markets since then, but that could be changing soon. VentureBeat reports that the Nokia 6 is set to be showcased for a global market at Mobile World Congress 2017. On top of that, HMD Global will reportedly unveil three new handsets, too: the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and an homage to the iconic Nokia 3310.

Details are light, but the report does indicate that the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 will be cheaper devices than the Nokia 6, and they will have lower-end specifications. Specifically, the Nokia 5 is rumored to feature a 5.2-inch 720p HD display (while the Nokia 6 boasts a 5.5-inch 1080p HD panel). The camera is said to be 12 megapixels, and the handset will reportedly only have 2GB of RAM. Pricing for these three phones will reportedly be €249 for the Nokia 6, €199 for the Nokia 5, and €149 for the Nokia 3.

Perhaps the most noteworthy part of the report is the rumor of a new Nokia 3310 device. That handset was heralded many, many years ago for its tough design and ridiculously long battery life. The Nokia 3310 certainly stands out as one of the most recognizable devices in the world (if not by name, then by design), so it will be interesting to see how HMD Global revitalizes the handset for today’s market.

The report indicates that the new Nokia 3310 will be relatively cheap, priced at just €59, so it could be a stable back-up device.
